A basic starting point in beginning to understand the media more is to examine essential the role of media and the extent and range of interactions with the media. all forms of media use where you are exposed to mass media texts. It is important to consider the use of both traditional (radio, television, newspapers) as well as newer forms of media (Internet).possible of your everyday media interactions.

Print media - books and newspapers

Books

the earliest books were hand written so very few were made because of the time taken to write them and only a few people were able to read them. it was only in the 15th century after the invention of the printing press that books became more widespread do to faster distribution. After that books became the main source of information and the circles ion of new ideas. With commercialisation and growing print industry books have become a commodity. Covering every subject matter.

Newspapers

The firsts newspapers appear in the 17th century and were only for the rich and powerful because at the time the common man and woman mostly could not read. Newspapers became part of mass media in the 20th century due to the changing politic and economic atmosphere at the time. Almost instantly newspaper became an commodity. They required frequent and regular appearance updating its information constantly. Contents topical content so people would come together in common debate and not controlled by the state or outside sources There two difference types of newspapers the prestige/broadsheets and the tabloids.
Prestige/broadsheets
Founded in the 1800s to be a liberal press free of censorship and independent of the state and of outside interests. Broadsheet are large in size and cover a lot of information reported by profession and ethics journalism. In broadsheets political or world news always goes to the front of the newspaper and commercial and human interest go to the back. There is a smaller font in broadsheets so there seen neader and cover more on a page.
Commercial/tabloids
The tabloid services to a lower education readership, and focus more on human interests story and the sensational of crime and scandals. There mush smaller in size then the broadsheets making them more useful for reading material when travelling. More advertisement in them and a larger lettering font to grip people attention
